DC Digital Silver Age Green Lantern - Toying Around Reviews

This week we are looking at the new DC Digital line from McFarlane Toys and DC Direct. With this new line, we don't get a normal build a figure, this line gives you a code to get a digital figure, and once you collect all 3 figures you then get a 4th digital figure. McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane that makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

Green Lantern comes in a normal-sized McFarlane-style box, however unlike the DC Multiverse boxes that a black and blue this box is a dark blue/black that fades into a lighter blue/green. The McFarlane Digital logo is at the top left with the DC Direct logo at the right. The figure itself is displayed in the middle of the box with all of his accessories. The Green Lantern logo and name is displayed at the bottom. Turning the box to the one side we again have the McFarlane Digital logo as well as the figure name and where he is from running down the side. The back of the box has some artwork, this is the same artwork that is on the included trading card. Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure, The wrap-around window is great for any collector who likes to keep his figure mint in the box.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Green Lantern out of the box we can see that we finally get a classic Hal Jordan that we have all been asking for. Hal looks really good in the classic simple costume.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Green Lantern comes with an open left holding hand, an open left hand, power effects, a Lantern, a trading card, a figure stand, and the card with the digital code.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

GREEN LANTERN'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees as well as make the head look up and down a little bit.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - With this, you can turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED WAIST - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

HINGE JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

TOE JOINT - This allows you to bend the toes up so you can pose the figure a little better when making him look like he is running or walking.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Green Lantern stands right around the 7-inch mark. Here is our new Green Lantern with our old Super Friends Green Lantern from Mattel and Green Lantern from the DC Icons line. Next, we have our first Green Lantern from McFarlane Toys and Sinestro also from McFarlane Toys.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint lines on this figure are nice, clean, and crisp.

FIGURE SCULPT 4.5/5 - The figure body is a good sculpt and is a good buck for this classic Green Lantern figure

POSING 4.5/5 - You can get this Green Lantern figure in just about every pose you want.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5 - I think some different effects would have been nice rather than two similar-looking power balls.

DURABILITY 5/5 - The plastic and joints are very good, with no fear of it breaking or snapping.

OVERALL SCORE 3.7/5 - The figure is very good, if you are looking for a classic Green Lantern then this is your figure.
