Marvel Legends: Ultimate Iron Man - Toying Around Reviews

Today, we delve into Hasbro’s new Marvel Legends line, The Comic Book Wave. Each figure in this line includes a small comic book accessory, typically an issue 1 or a significant cover in the character’s history. The Marvel Legends Series is a toy line that appeals to both collectors and non-collectors. It features action figures based on Marvel Comics characters, initially produced by Toy Biz and later by Hasbro. The line operates in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines available in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scales. These figures are visually appealing both inside and outside their packaging.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

Iron Man comes in a blister card. The card features a comic book-style Marvel Legends box on the top left, displaying the Ultimate Iron Man logo in the center. Below the logo, the figure, his accessories, and a mini comic book are shown. This blister card allows you to view the figure from all sides. The back of the card features a cross-cell display of other figures in the same line, including Banshee, ROM, Miles Morales Spider-Man, Adam Warlock, and Daken as Wolverine. Additionally, there’s a brief description of the figure: In the Ultimate Iron Man series, Tony Stark utilizes his innate intelligence and regenerative abilities to protect himself and others as Iron Man.

INSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.

This is how Iron Man comes packed in the plastic tray inside the blister card, everything is nicely displayed and easy to remove from the plastic.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking our new Iron Man out of the plastic, we can see that Hasbro has done an outstanding job on this guy. He looks 100 times better than he did from some years ago when Hasbro first took over the Marvel Legends license. He does look like he did in the old Ultimate Comics.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Iron Man comes with and left and a right open blasting hand, a left and a right holding hand, and an issue 1 Ultimate Iron Man comic cover for him to hold.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

IRON MAN'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL-HINGED JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

BALL SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - You can turn his wrists in a 360-degree circle while bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - This allows the legs to move out to the side, along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint enables you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Here is our new Iron Man standing next to some other Iron Men. First, we have the Heroes Reborn armor and the 80th anniversary armor. Next, we have him standing next to his fellow Ultimates hero, Ultimate Captain America.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - This guy is great, the paint work on him is well done, but there isn't much overall paint on him to mess up since he is mostly red and silver.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - We finally have an Ultimate Iron Man that looks like the Ultimate Iron Man.

POSING 4.5/5 - You can get him into some good poses, however, since the armor is so big there are a few poses here and there you won't be able to get him in.

ACCESSORIES: 2.5/5 - A Tony head would have been great, you also give him blast hands with no blast effects?

DURABILITY 4.5/5 - The plastic is strong, don't have to worry about anything breaking or snapping on this guy.

OVERALL SCORE 4.3/5 - If Hasbro could just have added a few more things instead of the comic book, then this guy could have been a home run.

RETAIL COST: $24.99
