Toying Around Reviews - Power Rangers Lightning Collection: TMNT Crossover Morphed Shredder

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the Morphed Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Power Rangers crossover line. This line of figures is based on the crossover comic that came out at the end of 2019. This comic saw the Turtles meeting the Power Rangers and teaming up to stop Rita and Shredder. This is also the same comic in that we see the Shredder get ahold of the Green Rangers Morpher and morph into this Shredder that we will be taking a look at today. The Lightning Collection is the adult collector line from Hasbro. Hasbro took over the Power Rangers line from Bandai this year. This new Lightning Collection line should fit in nicely with the Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series since they are all now made by Hasbro.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Shredder comes in a little larger than the standard box for the Lightning Collection by Hasbro. It’s a square box that has Shredder displayed in the middle with all his accessories. To the right is some artwork of the Shredder. Below we have the Turtles/Power Rangers crossover logo and the Power Rangers Lightning Collection logo with Shredder’s name listed below that. Turning the box around we see that the artwork from the front of the box is wrapping around to this side. The back of the box shows a CGI picture of the figure. This line does not show any other figures from the line nor a bio for the figure. Turning the box around one more time we see we have another look at that same artwork from the front.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Now that we have Shredder out of the box we can take a better look at him. The gold they used on the figure works so well, however, they didn’t paint the gold on the knees, not sure if it was a cost thing or they just forgot since the gold is used everyplace else. The soft-goods cape was also a nice touch. first time in the line they have used a soft goods cape.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Shredder comes with 2 Closed-Fisted Hands and 2 electric punching effects that clip onto his claws.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SHREDDER'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: HINGED BALL-JOINTED NECK - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS: This allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs, Where most Ab Crunches let you bend the figure at the top of the abs this one is different from the crunch at the bottom, more at the belt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This cut lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Shredder stands right at 7 inches tall. Here is our new Shredder standing next to the Lighting Collection Green Ranger and the Cartoon Shredder from N.E.C.A.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5 - The only thing wrong with the paint is that they didn’t put that same gold paint on the knees.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - Shredder is sculpted very nicely. He looks like he did in the comics, can’t complain about it.

POSING 5/5 - Just about every poses you would like to get from him can be done.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5 - how can you have a “Green Ranger” figure and not give him the Dragon Dagger? he even uses it in the comic book.

DURABILITY 4.5/5 - Just like the rest of the Lightning Collection figures, he is put together well and I don’t feel like he will break or snap.

OVERALL SCORE 4.6/5 - This figure is just about perfect.

RETAIL COST: $31.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT HASBRO PULSE
