Toying Around Reviews - MOTU Masterverse Revelations: King Grayskull

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the new King Grayskull from the Masters of the Universe Masterverse line. This is how King Greyskull appeared in the 2nd half of the Revelations Netflix show. Masterverse is an exciting new line of Masters of the Universe® action figures, and its first wave celebrates the release of a thrilling Masters of the Universe® reboot: the Netflix animated series, Revelation!

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Masterverse box is a nice size angled box, at the top, it tells you the figure has 30 points of articulation. Below that we have a big window that showcases the figure and the accessories, this box is just a little larger than the normal figure boxes as King Greyskull comes with more accessories than most other figures. To the right of the window, we have a little Netflix flag, this is to let us know that this figure is based on his look from the Kevin Smith Netflix show. At the bottom of the box, we have the Masters of the Universe Revelation logo, below that we have King Greyskull’s name. Turning the box to the side we have King Greyskull’s name. The side of the box also lets us know that he is the “Heroic Ancestor of He-Man!”. On the back of the box, we have some amazing artwork of King Greyskull. Next to the artwork, we have a bio, “Since the dawn of Eternia, there has always been a hero to protect the planet’s sacred magic. The first of those heroes - and the first to hold the mantle of He-Man - was King Greyskull. Now resting alongside the other heroes in Preternia, King Greyskull holds the key for the adventures to return to Eternia and save the magic from vanishing into oblivion” Below that, we have pictures of some other figures you can pick up. Turning the box around one more time we have some more artwork of King Greyskull.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking King Greyskull out of the box we can see that Mattel did a pretty good job making him look like how he did in the Netflix show. The Cape itself has a bendy wire in it so you can get it into all the action poses you would like.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

King Greyskull comes with an Alt head, an open left hand, a closed right fist, a shield, the good side of the power sword, and the evil side of the power sword.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

KING GREYSKULL’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees. The hair does hinder movement a little bit.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm past 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn the figure's wrist in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

King Greyskull stands right around the 7-inch mark, here is King Greyskull standing next to He-Man from this Masterverse line.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint that is on the figure is very well done, there are no real issues with my figure.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt seems to be very spot on from what we have seen of him in the show

POSING 5/5 - Posing him is very easy, the plastic overall is solid and the cape helps sell the poses too.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - Just him coming with the two sides of the power sword is a 5 for me lol

DURABILITY 5/5 - The plastic is nice a hard. No real issues like wave 1 had with the soft plastic.

OVERALL SCORE 5/5 - Love this guy, and I’m happy to finally have a King Greyskull for my collection.

RETAIL COST: $29.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY LOCAL TARGET!
