Toying Around Reviews - MOTU Masterverse Revelations: He-Man

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the new MOTU Masterverse line from Mattel. This line is rumored to be a legacy line that will feature charters from the He-Man multiverse. So far the 1st two waves are all figures from the new Kevin Smith Netflix show. Masterverse is an exciting new line of Masters of the Universe® action figures, and its first wave celebrates the release of a thrilling Masters of the Universe® reboot: the Netflix animated series, Revelation!

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Masterverse box comes in a nice size angled box, at the top, it tells you the figure has 30 points of articulation. Below that we have a big window that showcases the figure and the accessories. To the right of the window, we have a little Netflix flag, this is to let us know that this figure is based on his look from the Netflix show. At the bottom of the box, we have the Masters of the Universe Revelation logo, below that we have He-Man’s name. Turning the box to the side we have He-Man's name. The side of the box also lets us know that he is the “Most powerful man in the universe”. On the back of the box, we have some amazing artwork of He-Man charging into battle. Next to the artwork, we have a bio, “Defender of Castle Grayskull, protector of the planet Eternia, and guardian of the entire Universe, there is nobody stronger, faster, or braver than the mighty He-Man. He is quite simply the most powerful man in the universe, past, present, or future. A vessel for the mysterious power of Grayskull, He-Man inspires the heroes of Eternia to fight the forces of evil. Without He-Ma, Eternia - and the universe - would be doomed.” Below that we have pictures of the rest of the figures in this first wave. He-Man, Moss Man, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn. Turning the box around one more time we have some more artwork of He-Man, this time with him holding the Power Sword.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking He-Man out of the box and taking a good look at him we get to see how well Mattel did in making him look like the show model. One thing I did notice about the figure right out of the box is how soft the figure feels. The plastic is very soft and the elbow and knee joints are also very gummy.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

He-Man comes with left and right open hands, The Sword of Power, and his shield.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm past 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

He-Man stands right around the 7-inch mark. Here is our new He-Man standing next to last year's Origins He-Man, Next, we have He-Man standing next to The Justice League Superman and Skeletor.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint job is very well done on the figure. parts of the figure even have a wash over him

FIGURE SCULPT 4/5 - The sculpt looks fantastic, the only issue I have with the figure is the face. I just feel like something is off about it

POSING 5/5 - The articulation is on point, just about any pose you want to do you can.

ACCESSORIES: 4.5/5 - I feel like they should have added in one extra thing, some lighting to add around the power sword so you can make him say I HAVE THE POWER!

DURABILITY 2/5 - The plastic on the figure is very soft overall, I do worry about the figure holding up over time.

OVERALL SCORE 4.1/5 - This figure is just so close to being an awesome line. The plastic for me really hurts it.
