Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: Invincible Iron Man

Today we will be taking a look at Iron Man from the Black Panther Movie Okoye Build-A-figure wave. The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box.

Packaging: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Iron Man comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. You have the Okoye wave logo at the top with the Legends Series logo displayed right below. Iron Man is clearly displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as his accessories. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Invincible Iron Man logo as this is a comic book-based figure. On the left side of the box, we get some nice artwork of Iron Man. On the back of the box, you have a promo shot of the figure at the top with a small bio. Technological upgrades and weapons help Iron Man bring order to a battle. Below you have a picture of the Build-A-Figure as well as pictures of the rest of the figures in this wave. #1 Black Panther, #2 Erik Killmonger, #3 Nakia, #4 Black Bolt, #5 Sub-Mariner, #6 Iron Man. It is worth noting that Iron Man is the only figure in this wave that does not come with a Build-A-Figure piece. Flipping the box to the right side now you see we get the same Iron Man artwork that is on the left side.

Outside of the Box: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking a look at Iron Man outside the box, the first thing you notice is the nice color of red that they have used on him. It is a much deeper red than they have been using the movie figures.

Accessories: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Iron Man comes with left fisted hand and a right-blaster hand (opposite of what it is packed with). We also get a comic book-style Tony Stark head. Finlay Iron Man comes packed with a blaster that can be attached to the right or left forearms.

Articulation: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

Iron Man's articulation includes the following:

Hinged Ball Jointed Head - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees and tilt the head back and forth. Ball Hinged Shoulders - gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm. Double Jointed Elbows - this allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders. Swivel Hinge Wrists - allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down. Ab Crunch - this cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs. Waist Swivel - this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist. Ball Jointed Legs - This allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion. Upper Thigh Swivel - the leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees. Double Jointed Knees - joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure. Hinged Ankles with rockers - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

Size Comparison: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Iron Man stands right around 6.5 inches tall. For size comparison, first up we have Iron Man with Marvel Legends Black Panther (Civil War) and Iron Man (Spider-Man Homecoming). Next, we have Iron Man standing next to Batman (Justice League).

Rating: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

Paint Job 4/5 The paint on the figure is just about perfect on the front, however, on the back of the figure, there is almost nothing. Just a little more paint and he would have been a 5/5. Figure Sculpt 4/5 The overall sculpt of the figure is perfect. the only downside I see to the figure is not having any wrist hinges on the blaster's hands. if you use them they are stuck in one position. Posing / Durability 4/5 This ties back into the blaster's hands, while he looks really cool posed for a blast, you can’t do much more than that due to no wrists movement on the figure. Overall Score 4/5 I really enjoy this figure. he is fun and looks really cool. if you have your own little hall of armor then you really need to pick him up and add him to your collection. Retail Cost: $19.99 I picked up my Iron Man figure at Toys R Us.

Time for some Toying Around!
