Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: Heroes Return Iron Man

Today we are looking at Iron Man from the Marvel Legends Total Awesome Hulk Build-A-Figure wave. This figure is based on the Heroes Return storyline from the Iron Man comic books back in 1998. The Marvel Legends Series is a lower-tier toy line in which collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested. This is an action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz, and then by Hasbro. This line is in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scale.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

Iron Man comes packed in the new Marvel Legends windowless box. The top of the box has the Marvel Legends logo and the build-a-figure logo. A computer-generated picture of Iron Man is in the middle of the box while the Marvel logo is at the bottom below it. On the left side of the box, we get a picture of the build-a-figure with a list of all the figures you need to collect to complete the figure. The back of the box has another CG picture of Iron Man, this time firing with both hands. We also get a small picture of the accessories included with the figure. Flipping the box to the right side now we get some artwork of Iron Man from the comics.

INSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.

Looking inside the box, we get the figure in a baggie since Hasbro is going plastic-free. The accessors also come in a little bag.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Iron Man out of the box and bag we can see that this Iron Man uses the same 60th anniversary Iron Man body that Hasbro has been using for a lot of the figures. I am okay with this, it's a great body for Iron Man. The one downside is the figure comes with the repulsor hands that are molded in the up position. you can not move them aside from the swivel.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Iron Man comes with molded open hands that you can put the blast effects into. Iron Man also comes with left and right fists.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

IRON MAN'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL-HINGED JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED PINLESS ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - This allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED PINLESS KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Iron Man stands right around 6.5 inches tall. Here is Iron Man standing with a slew of other Iron Men that we have gotten over the last few years.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5 - The paint job on this new Iron Man is spot on. A little bit of shading or wash over the figure would have made it pop but I still like it regardless.

FIGURE SCULPT 4.5/5 - The figure is just about spot on from how he looked in the comics.

POSING 4/5 - You can get him into just about any move or pose you want. I just wish Hasbro would stop using the open hands that have a hinge on it.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5 - The only thing really missing on this guy would be a Tony Stark head

DURABILITY 4.5/5 - The plastic is nice and strong and don't see it breaking or cracking.

OVERALL SCORE 4.3/5 - I am a Huge Iron Man fan and I am very happy to add him to my collection, c'mon Hasbro you gave us Heroes Return now give us a new Heroes Reborn Iron Man.
