Today we will be taking a look at the Venom Figure from the Disney Exclusive Marvel Toy Box Line. There are now four different subcategories, PIXAR, STAR WARS, MARVEL, and DISNEY, and the only place to get the figures in on Disney’s website or at your local Disney Store.
PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.
The Marvel Toy Box figures come in a standard-size blister card. At the top, you have the Disney Store exclusive logo with the Marvel Toy Box Logo running down the left side of the box. The figure is displayed inside the blister card. At the bottom right, you have the figure's name along with the number 21, that’s because this is the 21st figure in the Marvel line. Turning the box to the side you have a clear side look at Venom and some of his accessories. This is perfect for collectors who wish to keep the figure mint inside the box. On the back of the box, we have pictures of some other new figures, Captain Marvel and Wolverine. The picture for Spider-Man has the Spider-Man Far From Home logo above, as this figure is based on his look in the movie. Flipping the box around one more time we have some artwork of Venom.
OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.
Taking Venom out of the box we can see that this is a stylized Venom figure. This is just about what Venom looked like in the Disney Infinity game from a few years ago. The black plastic they used on Venom is very shiny and almost gives him a wet look, almost how the symbiote should look on him.
ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.
VENOM ARROW COMES WITH: an Alternate Venom/Eddy Brock head Tentacles
ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!
VENOM’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: MUSHROOM PEGGED HEAD: This allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees. BALL JOINTED SHOULDERS: This joint gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm. SINGLE-JOINTED SWIVEL ELBOWS: The single joint allows for a 90-degree bend at the elbow. The swivel in the elbow allows for a complete 360-degree rotation of the lower arm. WAIST SWIVEL: This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist. HINGED LEGS: With this joint, you can move the legs out to the side along with some front and back motion. SINGLE-JOINTED KNEES: This joint, although limited, allows you to bend the knees. The bend is less than 90 degrees. HINGED ANKLES: The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back.
SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?
Venom stands right around 5.5 inches tall. Here is Venom standing next to the Far From Home Toy Box Spider-Man.
RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure? PAINT JOB: 4/5 The paint job on Venom is well done, all the white is clean and where it should be, the inside of the mouth is painted well along with his tongue. The only thing Venom is missing is the white boxes on his hands, where his webs would come out from. FIGURE SCULPT: 5/5 The sculpt is big and hulking just as Venom should be. POSING: 2/5 Venom’s legs feel a little too small for him to hold his huge body size. The joints on the legs are very loose too, making it hard to stand the figure and to keep him upright in some poses. ACCESSORIES: 5/5 The accessories are nice. The eddy head was a nice touch. Not sure what extra stuff you would ask for. DURABILITY: 3/5 With the legs already weak I do see the plastic strength breaking down over time and seeing it almost impossible to get him to stand. OVERALL SCORE: 3.8/5 Venom is one of my all-time favorite Marvel villains. So I am glad to add him to my Toy Box collection. I just worry about him down the road and being able to stand on his own. RETAIL COST: $12.99 I picked mine up at my local Disney Store.
TIME FOR SOME TOYING AROUND!!
