Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse: Justice League 2021 Aquaman

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at Aquaman from the Snyder Cut Justice League. This look is based on how Aquaman appeared in the 2021 Justice League movie. McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The top of the box lets us know that the figure has 22 points of articulation. The front of the box gives us a big window that lets us see the figure and everything he comes with. Just below the window, we have the DC Multiverse logo and the 2021 Justice League logo. At the bottom of the box, we have Aquaman’s name. Turning the box to the side we have the figure’s name and where he is from. The back of the box gives us a look at the figure’s collector card that is also inside the box. Below that we have the rest of the figures you can get from the 2021 Justice League movie. Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Aquaman out of the box we get a good look at all the detail that McFarlane toys have put into the figure. The head sculpt does look a little bit like Jason Momoa, however, I do feel the paint for the face and hair is just a little flat.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Aquaman comes with his trident, a collectors card, and a figure stand.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

AQUAMAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - With this, you can turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED WAIST - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

HINGE JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES -The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Aquaman stands right around 7 inches tall. Here is Aquaman standing next to both Mattel Aquaman from the Justice League movie and the Aquaman movie figure.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5 - The paint on the body of the figure is very well done, the suit looks worn, and that it has seen some battles. The only issue I have is the head, It just feels like it is missing something, maybe a wash over the hair?

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt on this figure is perfect, no complaints

POSING 5/5 - The figure can get into just about any position you would like it to. The arm and leg guards hide the ugly ball joints on this figure so it also looks good too when you pose it.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5 - An extra pair of hands would have been nice, also the trident is just a hair to think for the figure to hold it. After you get it into his hands it’s almost always ready to pop out.

DURABILITY 5/5 - The plastic is strong on this figure. I don’t have any fear of it wearing down over time.

OVERALL SCORE 4.7/5 - This is a really good Aquaman figure. he does blow the old Mattel one out of the water (pun intended)

RETAIL COST: $19.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY LOCAL WALMART
