Toying Around Reviews - Star Wars: Black Series - The Child

Today we will be taking a look at The Child from the Star Wars Black Series. The Child appears in the Disny+ show, The Mandalorian. Not much is known about The Child right now, all we know is that he is the same race as Yoda, hence the nickname Baby Yoda.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Child comes in a very small square-shaped box. The front of the box displays the Star Wars Black Series logo at the top of the box. The Child and his accessories are displaced in the middle of the box. At the bottom, we get the Mandalorian logo with the figure's name next to it. Turning the box to the side we can a small wrap-around from the front window so we can see the figure from the side, this is good for any collectors that want to keep the figure mint in the box. We also get The Childs name running down the side. The back of the box has all the legal stuff in different languages. Moving the box around one more time we have a red panel, this is normal with the old style of Black Series boxes. We also have The Child’s name running across the top.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking the Child out of the box we get a good look at some of the details they were able to fit onto this small figure. The figure has a lot of wrinkles all over his robe. You can also see some white paint on the top of his head for the little bit of hair he has.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

The Child comes with a bowl, a frog, and the ball from the ship's shifter.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

THE CHILD’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: BALL PEG NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL PEG SHOULDERS - allows you to turn the shoulders 360 degrees.

BALL PEG WRISTS - allows you to turn the hands 360 degrees.

BALL PEG LEGS - allows you to turn the legs 360 degrees.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

The Child stands right at 1-inch. Here is the Child standing next to a Marvel Legends Iron Man. Both are made by Hasbro.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5 - The paint on figure is nicely painted. however, a wash over the figure would have made his rope look a little worn like it does in the show.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt is nicely done. I’m not sure what else they could have added to him with him being so small.

POSING 1/5 - The arms can only go up and out a little bit before they pop out. You give him stuff he can hold but he really can’t hold any of it.

ACCESSORIES: 4/5 - If the figure came with his little floating stroller the figure would have been a home run.

DURABILITY 3/5 - Plastic is strong however the arms and feet do pop out very easily and feel like they can get lost.

OVERALL SCORE 3.4/5 RETAIL COST: $9.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY LOCAL TARGET.
