Toying Around Reviews - Power Rangers Lightning Collection: Mighty Morphin Ninja White Ranger

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers White Ninja Ranger. This look is based on the Ninja suits that the Rangers used in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie. The only main difference is that the actor’s face is completely covered up unlike how it was in the movie, this was done to make it easy for the stunt actors to fit into the shots. The Lightning Collection is the new adult collector line from Hasbro. Hasbro took over the Power Rangers line from Bandai this year. This new Lightning Collection line should fit in nicely with the Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series since they are all now made by Hasbro.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

White Ninja Ranger comes in the standard box for the Lightning Collection by Hasbro. It’s a rectangle-style box that has the White Ninja Ranger displayed in the middle with all his accessories. To the right is some artwork of the White Ninja Ranger. Below we have the Power Rangers Lightning Collection logo along with the name of the figure. Turning the box around we see that the artwork from the front of the box is wrapping around to this side. The back of the box only shows the promo picture for the figure. This line does not show any other figures from the line nor a bio for the figure. Turning the box around one more time we see we have another look at that same artwork from the front.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking the White Ninja Ranger out of the box we can see that this figure uses a nice bright white plastic. The little bits of gold really pop on the figure.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

The White Ranger comes with an unmasked Tommy head, a Tommy half-covered head, a Tommy full-covered head, two open hands, and a lighting effect.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

WHITE NINJA RANGER’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm about 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - This allows you to turn the figure's wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs. The cut is unusable due to the rubber overlay of the outfit.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL: The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This cut lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

White Ninja Ranger stands right at 6 inches tall. Here we have the new Lightning Collection White Ninja Ranger next to the wave 1 White Ranger from a few years ago. You can see how much whiter the new Ranger is.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5 overall the paint is good on this figure, there are a few hit-and-miss spots. Also, the overall wave is hit or miss. Check your figure before buying it.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt is perfect on the figure. It is really everything I could ask for when coming to a Ninja Ranger.

POSING 3/5 - Due to some of the cuts and the plastic, the figure itself can be a little hard to pose sometimes. The plastic around the elbows and knees is very soft and doesn’t want to stay.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - I am very happy that they gave us all the different heads to use with this figure. You can make it look like the show or the movie if you want.

DURABILITY 3/5 - The figure does have a lot of soft plastic used in it, mainly on the elbows and knees. They are already soft enough that hurts some of the poses you can do, I do worry over time it will hurt the figure being able to stand.

OVERALL SCORE 4/5 - I do like this figure a lot. I am just worried about some of the soft plastic and that you need to pick through so many figures to find a good-painted one.

RETAIL COST: $24.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY LOCAL TARGET.
