Toying Around Reviews - Power Rangers Lightning Collection: Gold Zeo Ranger

Today we will be taking a look at the Gold Ranger from Power Rangers Zeo. Power Rangers Zeo is the 4th season of the Power Rangers franchise. The Gold Ranger is Trey of Triforia the original Gold Ranger and a Lord of Triforia. Trey's three personalities, Courage, Wisdom, and Heart were portrayed by identical triplets Tom, Tim, and Ted DiFillippo, respectively. The Lightning Collection is the new adult collector line from Hasbro. Hasbro took over the Power Rangers line from Bandai this year. This new Lightning Collection line should fit in nicely with the Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series since they are all now made by Hasbro.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Gold Ranger comes in the standard box for the Lightning Collection by Hasbro. It’s a rectangle-style box that has the Gold Ranger displayed in the middle with all his accessories. To the right is some artwork of the Gold Ranger. Below we have the Power Rangers Lightning Collection logo along with the name of the figure. Turning the box around we see that the artwork from the front of the box is wrapping around to this side. The back of the box only shows the promo picture for the figure. This line does not show any other figures from the line nor a bio for the figure. Turning the box around one more time we see we have another look at that same artwork from the front.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking the Gold Ranger out of the box we can see that the figure looks really good and looks how he did on the show.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Gold Ranger comes with a Trey unmasked head, The Golden Power Staff, and a lighting effect.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

GOLD RANGER’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: HINGED BALL JOINTED NECK - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs, Where most Ab Crunches let you bend the figure at the top of the abs this one is different from the crunch at the bottom, more at the belt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - This allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES -The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Gold Ranger stands right at 6 inches tall. Here we have the new Lightning Collection Gold Ranger standing next to the old Bandai Gold Ranger.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5 - The paint job overall is very well done, it is hard to mess up when you only have 3 colors.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt is again very well done. Hasbro got lucky with Power Rangers, as about 90% of they will make will use the same arms, legs, feet, and hands.

POSING 5/5 - Just about every pose I would like to get the Gold Ranger in can be done. Do not have any complaints at all.

ACCESSORIES: 4.5/5 - I just wish it would have came with the collapsed Power Staff.

DURABILITY 5/5 - The figure will have no issues holding up. The plastic is nice and hard.

OVERALL SCORE 4.8/5 - The figure is just about perfect for me.
