Toying Around Reviews - MOTU Masterverse Revelations: Skeletor

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the new MOTU Masterverse line from Mattel. This line is rumored to be a legacy line that will feature charters from the He-Man multiverse. So far the 1st two waves are all figures from the new Kevin Smith Netflix show. Masterverse is an exciting new line of Masters of the Universe® action figures, and its first wave celebrates the release of a thrilling Masters of the Universe® reboot: the Netflix animated series, Revelation! This Masterverse collection includes He-Man®, Skeletor®, Evil-Lyn®, Beast Man®, and many more heroes and villains, all with highly detailed designs.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Masterverse box comes in a nice size angled box, at the top, it tells you the figure has 30 points of articulation. Below that we have a big window that showcases the figure and the accessories. To the right of the window, we have a little Netflix flag, this is to let us know that this figure is based on his look from the Netflix show. At the bottom of the box, we have the Masters of the Universe Revelation logo, below that we have Skeletor’s name. Turning the box to the side we have Skeletor’s name. The side of the box also lets us know that he is the “Evil Lord of Destruction!”. On the back of the box, we have some amazing artwork of Skeletor. Next to the artwork, we have a bio, “For ages, Skeletor ravaged the land and terrorized the people of Eternia in his quest to capture all of the power in the universe for himself. Now the nefarious scourge of Eternia plots his final hostile takeover of Castle Grayskull. With dark magic, devious technology, and an army of loyal soldiers at his back, this sinister sorcerer believes this time nothing can stop him…not even He-Man.” Below that we have pictures of the rest of the figures in this first wave. He-Man, Moss Man, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn. Turning the box around one more time we have some more artwork of Skeletor.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Skeletor out of the box we can see that he does look just like the new Kevin Smith animation. The figure itself has a texture all over him, including on his hood. The soft good cape is a really nice touch too.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Skeletor comes with the Shaping Staff, his Havoc Staff, a closed right fist, an open left hand, an open left hand with pointer finger out, and a flat open left hand.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SKELETOR’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm past 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This cut lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers will enable you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Skeletor stands just under 7 inches tall. First up we have Skeletor standing next to the new Origins Skeletor. Next, we have Skeletor standing next to the new Masterverse He-Man and the DC Multiverse Superman.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4.5/5 - The paint job is very well done on the figure. parts of the figure even have a wash over him, he is just missing his yellow face

FIGURE SCULPT 4/5 - The sculpt looks fantastic, I just feel the head is just a tad small.

POSING 5/5 - The articulation is on point, just about any pose you want to do you can.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - Skeletor comes with everything you could want him to, the Shaping staff was a nice add-in as well

DURABILITY 2/5 - The plastic on the figure is very soft overall, I do worry about the figure holding up over time.

OVERALL SCORE 4.1/5 - The soft plastic really hurts it, along with not having a yellow face

RETAIL COST: $19.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY LOCAL TARGET.

TIME FOR SOME TOYING AROUND!!
